  • You should use the Hue/Saturation aligning layer from the Adjustment layer console, because it gives you a lot more command over the Adjustment layer rather than Epitome → Adjustments → Hue/Saturation...

  • Play around is a good thing. Just do non mess with the Saturation and the Lightness sliders in the Hue/Saturation adjustment layer panel. If you do, information technology will be applied on the entire image not just the color yous want.
